Self-initiated brief: How can a slow lifestyle be lived and expressed in an inspiring yet realistic way?
Role: Concept, Art Direction, Brand Identity Design, Graphic Design, Copywriting, Film Art Direction, Print Production.
Born from the success of my competition entry for Page1, Pace is a work in progress project that I am developing into both a brand and lifestyle concept. When I designed Page1 of legendary novel Great Expectations, I struck upon the idea of slowness. In particular, that we don't have enough of it. After the design was published I knew there was a bigger idea in it than just reading more slowly. Researching into the Slow Movement that has it's roots in Italy, I learned that this philosophy can be practiced in a balanced, realistic way.
Today we live in such a fast paced world, one where we often don't even stop to appreciate certain aspects of our lives. Whether that be sitting in a cafe rather than coffee to go, or sending a handwritten letter instead of an instant, digital one. Pace will challenge these everyday choices and will initially consist of a series of books to continue the collection of slow reading before developing across other avenues of everyday life.
